When you search on google and the algorithm tells you your op-ed got published

Hi folks, just had a very surreal experience to start out the week.

My Monday routine starts with sending Climate Blue’s weekly newsletter on climate news and events at the University of Michigan and around Southeast Michigan. As part of that, I do a few basic searches on climate change and climate action on news aggregators, including google. Below is today’s first query:

Do you see that last one? The Op-Ed in the Michigan Daily? I thought I recognized it, because I wrote and submitted it a few weeks ago. What an incredible way to start the week!

Read the op-ed here, if you’re interested. It’s on internal carbon accounting as a strategy for institutions to fight climate change. Broader carbon taxation is a more complicated question, but engaging with carbon accounting on an institutional level is a no-brainer and a moral imperative.
